Very cool factory-refinished Fender Jazzmaster that was built in the earliest years of this models production! This guitar is a great player with reasonable fretwear for its age - and all of the mojo that comes along with it! This may be a refin, but it was completed way back in the 60s, so it's got all the authentic nitro finish checking and honest playwear / dings and dents that make vintage guitars so cool! Not to mention the awesomeness (and clean condition) of this guitars slab Brazilian rosewood fingerboard! Truss rod and vibrato system are in great working order- this guitar is the perfect intersection of collectible vintage coolness and practical playability!
This Fender Jazzmaster is in Very Good condition. Notes on condition / originality:
-Fender factory refin in Fiesta Red in 1960s - neck pocket has red consistent with factory refins of the era. Body is missing some screw holes & consistent with having originally being built with a metal (anodized) pickguard.
-Weight: 8 lbs ~3 oz
-Pots replaced - originals included (current pots are modern, 1 meg CTS)
Original pots removed - 1 meg value, codes indicate Stackpole pots mfg year 1956
(Code: 304616) - consistent with Fender mfg practices of the era
-Neck heel pencil markings missing, obvious slab board, confirms neck was built between 59-62 - neck plate replaced
-We believe the pickguard is a period-correct (mid-60s) replacement - working theory is that pickguard, bridge pickup replacement (dated 1964 - see photos), case replacement, and refinish all occured at the Fender factory in the mid-60s.
-Bridge pickup is wired same as a neck pickup (Fender likely replaced with whatever they had on-hand - currently not noise- cancelling in center position, but otherwise working / wired to factory spec)
-Case appears to be mid-late 1960s (grey exterior, orange interior - original era would have been tweed)
Tuners, bridge, tailpiece, and electronics not mentioned above all appear original.
